A Supportive Friend
Title: A Supportive Friend
Author: Ash Follett
Pocket Book No 7
Good friends don’t let you do stupid things alone.
Families and friends are a complicated mix – and when the two combine the results aren’t always pretty.
Sample Text
As our bohemian friend left the building, I stood up with the stack of gallery guides I’d folded and restocked the stand.
“Jane. Do you realise that was a 67-minute talk you just gave?” I asked.
“Casey. Yes, I do, and it was great, and she loved it, and she wants to have a beer with us later.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. She gave me her phone number and said, let’s have a beer later.”
“Any chance that might not have the casual context you think it does?”
“I… I did not think of that Casey… but… if you come along too then it will just be three friends having a beer.”
“Friends?”
“It will just be three new friends having a beer,” clarified Jane.
“OK, if you say so then. What time?”
“I said when we’ve closed up for the day, so approximately twenty minutes from now.”
“Right-o.”
